China Blue

The cosmically confusing premise behind this triple-dose of Taiwanese pop is a collision of Mars and Earth – with Wu Bai representing the former planet, and Chen Shen the latter. Back within the realm of reality, Wu is one of Taiwan’s most popular singers and songwriters, and Chen one of the country’s most highly regarded singers and record producers.

For their Macau debut, the duo will be hurling their full range of romantic ballads and interplanetary rock at what will doubtless be a frenzied audience.

The Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra (SWR) begins the Macau Cultural Centre’s 2010 classical music season with a flourish of polished Germanic precision. In their Macau debut under the baton of Sir Roger Norrington, the SWR will perform the masterpieces ‘Symphony No 101 The Clock’ by Haydn, and Elgar’s ‘Enigma Variations’. Also part of the program will be piano soloist Claire Huangci’s rendition of Prokofiev’s ‘Piano Concerto No 3’

Michael Wong A Legend Reborn

Hong Kong’s Michael Wong will bring his 17-piece big band, an ensemble of dancers and the occasional surprise guest to the Sands Macao Theatre for ‘A Legend Reborn’. Created in part to celebrate the relaunch of Chivas Regal 25, the Macau show will be held on Wong’s birthday, with all attendees invited to celebrate at an exclusive post-performance party at The View

Peaches Christ Superstar featuring Chilly Gonzales

The Venetian Macao and the founders of Rockit Music Festival present Peaches, the bad girl of electro punk for her first live show in China. The self-made, self-produced singer, who has collaborated with everyone from Iggy Pop to M.I.A. to Pink – is without question – the leader of the electro punk movement.

Peaches hit the mainstream in 2006, and since then has been featured in major films and TV shows such as Lost in Translation, Ugly Betty, 30 Rock and the L Word. She has also been a featured artist at outdoor music festivals including Big Day Out and Coachella.

Always pushing new boundaries, her latest show ‘Peaches Christ Superstar Featuring Chilly Gonzales’ featuring DJ Frankie Lam and other local acts promises to be one of the most exciting shows of the year.

The Silk Road Ensemble with Yo-Yo Ma

The legendary Yo-Yo Ma will grace Macau this month with the astonishing Silk Road Ensemble, a collective of renowned musicians, composers and arrangers from more than 20 countries. Of rather diverse origin himself, Ma was born in Paris to Chinese parents, and later studied cello at New York’s Juilliard School. He has recorded more than 75 albums, including 16 Grammy Award winners. The Silk Road Project was meanwhile founded by Ma in 1998, and has recorded four albums and performed to critical acclaim throughout Europe, Asia and North America.

Kelly Clarkson “All I Ever Wanted”

American Idol’s very first winner will be kicking off the summer with her first visit to Macau in May. Clarkson has sold more than 20 million albums since her 2002 debut, with such tunes as ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’, ‘Because of You’ and ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’ going on to open the hearts and wallets of countless Americans.

Seen & Heard

The MGM Grand’s Lion’s Bar has always been one of Macau’s most popular entertainment venues.

From now to June 28, adding to its vibrancy will be the seven-member band Upfront. An assemble of musicians from around the world, Upfront brings a unique entertainment experience from modern hits, funk and R&B.

After the Lion’s Bar, continue to D2 (2/F AIA Tower), one of most popular nightclubs in Macau. A good mix of expatriates and locals frequent this late-night club which gets busy around midnight and doesn’t stop until the sun comes up.

And every Tuesday from 10pm to 4am, the action gets even hotter as D2 hosts the most sizzling salsa party in Macau.

Next to D2 is Club Cubic (2/F AIA Tower), a luxury private members-only club with stunning laser lighting and a stateof- the-art sound system. The largest of its seven VIP rooms can accommodate up to 50 guest and can even include its own DJ. Every Thursday at Club Cubic is the ‘Model’s Night’, and ladies can enjoy free drinks all night long.

As well as the popular ‘Girls’ Night Out’ parties, The Whisky Bar at StarWorld is holding a new ‘Men’s Night Out’ for the lads each Tuesday. Men can get a chance to win one free beer when order any draught beer. On April 6, girls in bunny costumes will be present to give away Easter egg candies.

On May 15, SNAP! Will come to Cafe Deco at the Venetian Macao to host a very original dance music party. SNAP!

Producers Luca Anzilotti and Michael Munzing’s international megahit “The Power” is not only one of the world’s most played dance-tracks, but also the one that launched the “SNAP!-attack” 15 years ago, taking the world by storm. Don’t miss the first in a series of Revival Tour parties at Cafe Deco Macao.
