Better blaster

Blastrac announces its new 1-16DB rideon shot blaster. It features an enhanced, trouble-free hydraulic drive system, offering better productivity when cleaning and preparing concrete or steel surfaces. The shot blaster utilizes patented paddle-wheel technology in the blast head, producing a 16-in.-wide blast path. The operator can realize up to 3,500 sq ft per hour with this unit to effi ciently strip, clean and profi le surfaces simultaneously. It is an ideal shot blaster for ship decks, parking garages, industrial plant and warehouse fl oors, bridge and highway work and airport runways.

Green light

Dialight introduces the StreetSENSE RS Series LED Roadway Sign Light, an energyeffi cient “green” solution that provides quality light, effectively directs illumination, reduces energy consumption and cost and cuts maintenance requirements. The RS Series solves the problem that sign owners face of constantly replacing their expensive mercury vapor and metal halide fi xtures. The series combines precision optics and patent-pending LED technology to meet the most demanding specifi cation criteria for road-sign lighting.

Tough enough

The “Are You Carhartt Tough?” contest is being conducted in conjunction with the rollout of a new product line being offered by the two companies.

With Ducks Unlimited acting as media sponsor, contest organizers will reach out to the American work force to identify people who are strong. Beginning on April 30, three fi nalists will be announced each quarter. After a year, all 12 fi nalists will be featured on the contest website where the public will be encouraged to cast votes for the toughest. Two grand prize winners will receive either a weekend duck hunt trip designed by Ducks Unlimited or a trip to the Stihl Timbersports Series in 2011.


Mixing station

Topcon Positioning Systems introduces new fi eld controller technology with its FC-250, designed to give users increased power and performance in a rugged and compact unit. It has the operating system power of the latest Windows Mobile Version 6.5. The PC performance with 806-MHz processor and 256-MB SDRAM is designed to signifi cantly speed up data collection in the fi eld. The FC-250 also has a built-in Bluetooth modem and wireless LAN capability as standard features.

West Coast-style

Rogers Brothers Corp. recently completed an 80-ton-capacity, 13-axle trailer for a specialized hauling company in Houston (the term 13-axle takes into account a four-axle tractor). The trailer employs a “West Coast-style” suspension that distributes weight to the back six axles using a “rocker shaft” in the rear of the trailer. The air-ride suspensions of the fi rst three axles are attached to a subframe that “rocks” inside the rear frame. It balances, like a teeter-totter, with the back three axles of the “stinger,” or bogie.

Ultra safe

UltraTech International’s Ultra-ADA Pad truncated domes install quickly and easily in new construction or as a retrofi t to current concrete construction.

The warning pads are ADA-compliant and are designed for the visually impaired to feel the raised, truncated domes on the surface with their feet.

This in combination with a tapping cane can alert them to a different surface than the surrounding concrete sidewalk and an upcoming intersection.

Ultra-ADA Pads come in several different sizes and colors.

Knaack for safety

The Knaack PowerCrew 15-amp inbox power supply has four GCFI-protected electrical outlets providing 15 amps of power for operating tools or charging batteries. The power source comes via a standard three-prong/straight blade extension cord, which plugs into the outside of the box. This product includes a number of important safety features.

One of them, an internal relay, senses an open neutral conductor (broken wire) in the power supply line. If this occurs, the relay remains open, preventing electricity from reaching a person.

Optelecom-NKF Inc. announced the release of its compact H.264 Siqura MD6x PTZ IP camera series. The mini dome (MD) camera line offers two pan/ tilt/zoom (PTZ) IP cameras: the indoor MD60 and the outdoor MD62. Both are ideal for professional installations where a high-quality, reliable and costeffective solution is required. All of the MD6x cameras support open streaming architecture (OSA) for easy integration with video-management systems. PTZ coordinate positions can be queried or set through the OSA application programming interface.
