Jordan, senior counsel to Dykema Gossett, P.L.L.C. in Dallas, was named chair of the board of Dallas Summer Musicals, Inc. Rene R. Barrientos, a retired San Antonio lawyer, committed $1 million during the next 10 years to Texas A&M University — Kingsville’s Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute. Olivia Carbajal de Garcia, an associate of Weycer, Kaplan, Pulaski & Zuber, P.C., was appointed by Houston Mayor Annise Parker to the City of Houston Board of Public Trusts. Lynne Liberato, a partner in Haynes and Boone, L.L.P. in Houston, was one of three honorees inducted into the Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas’ 2012 JA Hall of Achievement. She was honored for her accomplishments in Houston’s legal community and commitment to public service. The Hon. William E.B. Blackmon, of counsel to Dennis Spurling, P.L.L.C. in Houston, was inducted to the Prairie View Interscholastic Coaches Association Hall of Fame in Fort Worth. James W. Walker, a partner in Walker Sewell, L.L.P. in Dallas, was appointed to a second term on the City of Coppell Economic Development Committee and to a second term as president of the Coppell Economic Development Foundation. Forrest Smith, a partner in the Ryan Law Firm, L.L.P. in Dallas, was reappointed to the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Board of Directors. Thomas J. O’Meara, Jr., an attorney with the Fowler Law Firm, P.C. in Austin, was awarded the 2012 Austin Bar Association David H. Walter Community Excellence Award. The award is given to an attorney who has recently made a significant impact in the community and, at the same time, raised the profile of the profession. Texas-licensed Joe L. McClaugherty, a partner in McClaugherty and Silver, P.C. in Santa Fe, N.M., was inducted into the New Mexico Ski Hall of Fame. Karen Sage, judge of the 299th District Court, and Leigh de la Reza, an Austin private practitioner, joined the board of the Council on At-Risk Youth. Robert Werner, a partner in Brown McCarroll, L.L.P. in Austin, received a three-year term on the board of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and South Texas.
