On Sunday, July 15, 9:30- 11:30 a.m., both the state award winners and the national award winners will be recognized at this celebratory event. These prestigious honors include the Thelma Flanagan Gold Achievement Award, the Louise Sublette Award of Leadership Excellence in School Nutrition, the Heart of the Program Award, the Outstanding Director of the Year Award, the Industry Member of the Year Award and more. Tray Talk, SNA’s public awareness campaign designed to help Association members promote a positive image of school meals, continues to offer new resources to assist you in spreading the word about the innovative approaches and achievements of your school nutrition operation. At www.schoolnutrition.org/TrayTalk, the member resource site, you will find a new downloadable backpack brochure, details about the MyPlate food guidance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, resources to communicate the benefits of school milk and customizable flyers available in both English and Spanish. In addition, the public website, TrayTalk.org, now features a new series of videos that bring to life school nutrition success stories from coast to coast. At press time, the latest video highlights how the Nutrition Services staff at St. Paul (Minn.) Public Schools are sharing family-sized versions of recipes with parents, so they can replicate the same healthy meals their children enjoy in the cafeteria.
