A Yearn to Learn As the calendar turns to August, back-to-school season has begun in many communities. But your students needn’t be the only ones preparing for a new academic year. Make this school year the one that you advance your professional development by taking advantage of training and classes offered by your school nutrition operation, your SNA chapter or a variety of other sources. If it’s general professional skills you’re after, consider looking into public speaking training through Toastmasters (www.toastmasters.org) or explore accounting, computer-related and other courses offered by a local community college. And, of course, don’t forget opportunities made available by SNA and its online School Nutrition University at SchoolNutrition. org. By starting small, you’ll enhance your knowledge, and you just may find yourself on the way to increased professional success. Remember, you’re never too old to learn something new!
