Self-Serve RATIONAL offers its Self Cooking Center® Whitefficiency® system to foodservice operators seeking tighter, more efficient control of food preparation tasks. A Closer Look at… Combi Barcode Scanner Operators can create any number of recipes and link each to a unique barcode that can be scanned and sent directly to a Hobart Combi® Oven with Hobart’s Combi Barcode Scanner. This unique tool is designed to introduce efficiencies in combi oven use, saving time in both employee training and daily item programming. The software for the hand-held scanner guides users through the phases of programming cooking instructions for commonly prepared recipes. At each phase, operators can select the appropriate mode of cooking (convection, steam or combination), the temperature setting, length of time or core probe function, humidity level and fan speed. The combi oven automatically loads the cooking program and goes into preheat mode when the operator scans the barcode and presses “Start” on the oven. The oven will then cook the item based on the barcode’s instructions for the recipe. A complete list of barcodes can be printed for other staff members to use when they are preparing designated menu items. To find out more about this technology, visit www.hobartcorp.com or call (888) 446-2278.
