New Public Members Sworn In David Alders of Nacogdoches and Dr. David Teuscher of Beaumont were sworn in by Texas Supreme Court Justice Phil Johnson as new public members of the Board of Directors at the Sept. 21 meeting in Tyler. Their terms expire in 2015. Employee of the Quarter President-elect Lisa M. Tatum congratulated State Bar Human Resources Representative Pamela Whitfield for being named Employee of the Quarter. State Bar of Texas Committee Involvement President-elect Lisa M. Tatum is preparing to make her committee appointments, which presents a great leadership opportunity for Texas lawyers. Committees examine a wide range of issues that affect State Bar members, the legal profession, and the public. Lawyers interested in serving on a State Bar committee should visit texasbar.com/committees to learn more and access the online application. The deadline for applications is Dec. 7, and committee appointment terms begin after the annual meeting in June. Legislative Program The Board of Directors adopted the State Bar’s Legislative Program. The program includes 20 proposed bills submitted by the Animal Law, Family Law, Hispanic Issues, LGBT Law, Municipal Judges, and Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law sections.
