Cory Halliburton, a shareholder in Weycer, Kaplan, Pulaski & Zuber, P.C., in Arlington, was named the 2013 Outstanding Young Lawyer of Tarrant County by the Fort Worth-Tarrant County Young Lawyers Association. The award recognizes attorneys who exemplify professional proficiency, service to the profession, and assistance to the community. Carol Bush and Becky Gregory were appointed by Gov. Rick Perry to the Texas Juvenile Justice Board. The board oversees the Texas Juvenile Justice Department, a state agency that works to produce positive outcomes for youths, their families, and communities. A. Gerry Geistweidt, an attorney with Geistweidt & Whitworth, P.C., in Mason, was appointed by Gov. Rick Perry to the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas Oversight Committee. The committee guides the work of the institute, which awards grants to expedite innovation in cancer research. Carlos Rodriguez, a partner with Webb, Stokes & Sparks in San Angelo, was appointed to the board of the San Angelo Health Foundation. Ryan Clinton and Brett Kutnick, attorneys with Hankinson, L.L.P., in Dallas, received board certification in civil appellate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Charles Foster, co-chairman of Foster-Quan, L.L.P., in Houston, received the 2013 Leon Jaworski Award from the Houston Bar Association Auxiliary. The award recognizes a lawyer who has shown exemplary service in the Houston community and whose efforts have benefited the city and its residents. John Browning, administrative partner with Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, L.L.P., in Dallas, was named the recipient of the 2013 Dan Rugeley Price Memorial Award by the Texas Bar Foundation. The award honors an attorney who exemplifies the qualities of an accomplished legal writer and researcher, a talented and dedicated practicing lawyer, a servant of the profession as a volunteer, and an advocate on its behalf. Janiece Longoria, an attorney with Ogden, Gibson, Broocks, Longoria & Hall, L.L.P., in Houston, was appointed chairwoman of the Houston Port Commission. Danny Ramon, an associate with Graves, Dougherty, Hearon & Moody, P.C., in Austin, was named president of the Austin LGBT Bar Association. Yolanda Cornejo Garcia, a partner with Weil, Gotshal & Manges, L.L.P., in Dallas, was chosen to be a member of the 2013 class of Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellows. The program identifies, trains, and advances the next generation of leaders in the legal profession. Jordan Cowman, a shareholder in Greenberg Traurig, L.L.P., in Dallas, was elected chairman and president of the Texas Business Hall of Fame. David J. Beck, a founding partner with Beck Redden, L.L.P., in Houston, received the Institute of Energy Law’s Lifetime Achievement Award in Energy Litigation. Marshall Searcy, a partner with Kelly, Hart & Hallman, L.L.P., in Fort Worth, received the 2013 Ronald D. Secrest Outstanding Trial Lawyer Award from the Texas Bar Foundation. The award honors an active trial lawyer who has displayed outstanding trial and advocacy skills, high ethical and moral standards, and stellar professional conduct.
