School Nutrition’s Biggest Exhibit Hall Comes to the Heart of the Nation Challenge extended: Name a part of your school nutrition operation that you think could be improved. Whether it’s related to your menu, kitchen equipment, marketing efforts, staff training or almost anything else, SNA’s ANC Exhibit Hall will have a solution to help you address that problem. Year after year, vendors go above and beyond to deliver innovative products and services. You will never find the same ol’, same ol’ at ANC. “The ANC 2013 Exhibit Hall in Kansas City will be a must-see!” asserts Kristin Morello, SNS, school nutrition director, Reading (Mass.) Public Schools. A veteran who attends ANC year after year (and has participated as a School Nutrition “secret shopper”), Morello is eager to see what awaits this summer. “This is the only place you are going to find the most up-to-date items that meet the new regulations. You will also see everything from POS technology to recycling and composting ideas. I never miss the Exhibit Hall and neither should you!” And industry representatives are excited to show you what they have to offer this year—after all, allowing you the opportunity to see and experience their products is just as important to them as it is to you. “ANC is a one-of-a-kind event that brings K-12 foodservice operators together to collaborate and learn from the business partner community each year,” says Dominic Barial, market development manager, education and government segments, Georgia-Pacific Professional. “We appreciate and understand the importance of our participation in ANC and look forward to another exciting year!” Positive, lasting relationships are a hallmark of K-12 foodservice. Industry representatives value the opportunity that ANC’s Exhibit Hall offers to “put a face to a name,” notes Georgine Miley, national school specialist for Mrs. T’s Pierogies. “ANC allows forged relationships to render the beginning of longtime camaraderie and lifetime friendships.” But to make the Exhibit Hall truly worth your while— whether you hold the authority to make purchasing decisions or are charged with offering recommendations for those decisions—do your homework before the doors open. Take a few moments to review the list found on the next few pages to identify companies that will be in attendance. Next, visit SNA’s brand-new mobile conference website, m.marketart.com/SNA, where you will find a link to an interactive map that will pinpoint the location of each exhibitor. Save company names on a customized appointment list, so you don’t miss any of your favorites (see the box on page 90 for further details). And in the onsite ANC Program Guide, you will find short descriptions of exhibitor offerings, as well as companies listed by product categories. The mammoth Exhibit Hall, with more than 830 booths, can be a bit intimidating, at least initially. But between the mobile site and new “You Are Here” kiosks, 42-in. screens that identify your current location, you will be able to navigate your way, whether you’re heading to the Cutting Edge Complex or Produce Row—or to the School Nutrition booth to drop off your entry into the new What’s Ruby Reading? Contest (pages 10-11), get more information about the magazine or just say “hello” to the editorial team. We’ll hope to see you at “ANC in the Heart of the Nation” this summer!
