The Houston office of Jackson Walker received the Harris County Bench Bar Pro Bono Award from the Houston Bar Association and Harris County judiciary. Kent Hance, chancellor of Texas Tech University, and James H. Milam, a Lubbock attorney (now deceased), were named West Texas Legal Legends. T. John Ward, of Ward & Smith in Longview, received a 2014 Distinguished Alumni Award from the Texas Tech Alumni Association. Andrea C. Timmons, owner of Timmons Law Office in Aubrey, received the 2013 Business of the Year Award from the Aubrey 380 Area Chamber of Commerce. Patricia Alvarez, justice of the 4th Court of Appeals in San Antonio, received the Law Day Chair Award, and Israel Reyna, of Texas RioGrande Legal Aid in Laredo, received the Community Advocate Award from the Laredo-Webb County Bar Association. Elizabeth “Christy” Jack, of the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office in Fort Worth, was named the chair of the state’s Office of Violent Sex Offender Management. Rebecca G. Flanigan, of Texas RioGrande Legal Aid in Corpus Christi, received the Noble Award from the Poverty Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. The Poverty Law Section of the State Bar of Texas presented Impact Awards to John J. Grieger Jr. of Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas in Dallas; Andrea Marsh of the Texas Fair Defense Project in Austin; Christina E. Trejo of Texas Rio-Grande Legal Aid in Victoria; and Michael E. Urena of Texas Rio-Grande Legal Aid in Eagle Pass. Brian Shannon, professor at Texas Tech University School of Law, and Victor R. Scarano, founding partner in Hasley Scarano in Houston, received a 2014 Outstanding Law Review Article Award from the Texas Bar Foundation. Charles W. Matthews Jr., former vice president and general counsel at ExxonMobil in Dallas, and Shannon Ratliff, principal in Ratliff Law Firm in Austin, received Presidential Citations by University of Texas at Austin President Bill Powers. Donald Williams, of the Law Offices of Donald L. Williams in El Paso, received the 2013-2014 El Paso Bar Association Pro Bono Award. Hillary Holmes, partner in Baker Botts in Houston, received the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award from the Houston Young Lawyers Association.
