Wish You Were Here! One fun aspect of traveling is sending a postcard from your destination to friends and family and sharing the details of your adventures. But armchair travelers can do the same thing! Consider teaming up with an art and/or geography teacher in your school for a project that encourages youngsters to create their own postcards, combining imagination, art and learning and celebrating International Postcard Week, October 5-11. Elementary students can create drawings depicting a spot where they have traveled—or would like to travel—and write a message about the destination. Display their handiwork in the cafeteria before arranging for mail delivery to recipients. A simple Internet browser search will direct you to different postcard template designs.
