Thanks for Your Pearls of Wisdom The recipes featured most months in School Nutrition are collected from a variety of sources, from school districts to food marketing groups to chefs to child health advocates. But we know that even among K-12 districts and schools, there can be a great disparity in budgets, ingredient availability, time, equipment, staff expertise and, of course, student preference! To help provide added-value to selected recipes, School Nutrition enlists the essential help of a group of K-12 volunteers, who review and/or test recipes, offering general feedback, modification suggestions and even presentation tips! The “real-world” advice from our Kitchen Wisdom Panel is intended to help you determine whether a published recipe is worth trying in your district or school. The magazine team would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to those SN Kitchen Wisdom Panel members—and their expert school staff—who were active in 2014-15. • Paula Angelucci, Supervisor of Nutrition Services, Colonial School District, New Castle, Del. • Donnie Barclift, Field Supervisor, Oakland (Calif.) To be a member of the panel, you must be willing to receive three recipes four to six times a year, agreeing to review, modify and/or test these with staff and students and provide your feedback. All member levels, from employees to directors, are encouraged to volunteer! Note, however, that School Nutrition does not provide any compensation, ingredients or other remuneration for KWP participation.
