PORTABILITY SPECIAL MARKETING SECTION Portability & Working On The Job site for 2016 & ON THE Complied by BHSW Inc. Advanced technology on a worksite once meant being able to rough cut plywood or trim studs with a circular saw and a chalk line. Back then, 1/8” was considered accurate. Today, companies such as Festool, ShopBot and TigerStop have given us the tools to produce perfect parts on the jobsite, with unimagined accuracy and incredible portability. For example, using Festool’s guide rails and a TS 55 REQ portable saw, an installer can make cuts as precisely at a remote location as he can on a table-saw back in the shop. Or a woodworker can turn out parts all day long that are accurate to 1/128” using TigerStop’s portable Sawgear fence system. Add the company’s Crown+MiterPro software, and even a novice can cut accurate angles on crown molding. ShopBot’s new smart power tool, the HandiBot Adventure edition, also works with new software to deliver incredible results onsite. The program is called FabMo, and it allows a woodworker to program a small, portable CNC machine from virtually electronic device – a smartphone, tablet or laptop, using any platform. It is also app-ready, so an installer can program in basic tasks (shelf pin holes, European hinge mounts, etc.), and spend his/her time working on something else while the HandiBot shapes, cuts, mills and drills. If you’re tired of 1/8” gaps and the ‘good is good enough’ philosophy, and you want to move up to the next level of jobsite accuracy, read on… www.festoolusa.com ............................................. 44 www.handibot.com ............................................... 43 www.tigerstop.com ............................................... 42 MAY 2016 WWW.WOODSHOPNEWS.COM 41
