DR. PREMA ARASU has been named associate vice president for international programs and chief international offi cer at Washington State University. She is associate vice provost in the Offi ce of International Affairs at North Carolina State University. Arasu earned a bachelor’s from National University of Malaysia, master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Wyoming, a doctorate from Hahnemann University and a doctorate in veterinary medicine from Cornell University. BURGWELL HOWARD is dean of students at Northwestern University (Ill.). Howard was assistant to the vice president for student affairs at Northwestern. He earned a bachelor’s from Dartmouth College and a master’s from Stanford University. DR. RAYNARD S. KINGTON has been appointed president of Grinnell College (Iowa). Kington is the deputy director of the National Institutes of Health. He holds a bachelor’s from the University of Michigan, a master’s and doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania and a doctor of medicine from the University of Michigan. DR. GARY MARCHIONINI has been appointed dean of the School of Information and Library Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Marchionini was the Cary C. Boshamer Professor of Information Science at UNC-Chapel Hill. He earned a bachelor’s from Western Michigan University and a master’s and doctorate from Wayne State University. DR. PATRICIA VAN LEEUWAARDE MOONSAMMY has been appointed Distinguished Chair in Africana Studies at Dickinson College (Pa.). Moonsammy also serves as assistant professor of Africana studies at Dickinson. She earned a bachelor’s from San Francisco State University and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Michigan. BARBARA PEREZ is vice president of El Camino College Compton Center. Perez previously served as vice president of human resources at El Camino College. She earned a bachelor’s and master’s from California State University, San Diego. DR. JACQUELINE JONES ROYSTER was appointed the dean of the Ivan Allen College at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Royster was senior vice provost and executive dean of the College of the Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University. She earned a bachelor’s from Spelman College and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Michigan. DR. SHAWNTA FRIDAY-STROUD has been named dean of the School of Business and Industry at Florida A&M University. Friday-Stroud is a professor of management at FAMU. She earned a bachelor’s and a master’s from FAMU and a doctorate from Florida International University. DR. ELIAS PROVENCIO-VASQUEZ has been named dean of the School of Nursing at the University of Texas at El Paso. Provencio-Vasquez was associate dean of the School of Nursing and Health Studies at the University of Miami. He holds a bachelor’s from Northern Arizona University and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Arizona.
