The People’s Choice A) This curly-haired Queen of Sass narrowly missed the winner’s circle with 34.81% of the votes. B) According to one member, the owlish expression on this smarty-pants sends the message that “it’s OK to be smart; it’s OK to be a little nerdy!” Brains won over beauty with 37.41% of the total votes. C) This little guy exudes positivity and reminded many of a son or grandson. Perhaps a little over-excitable, he came in third, with 27.78% of the votes. FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW, School Nutrition came to YOU to help us pick the cover of this month’s magazine! The SN editorial team, as well as all of the staff at SNA Headquarters, appreciates when members provide feedback and engagement. That’s why we asked the 7,000 school nutrition professionals and industry representatives gathering in San Antonio this summer for the 2016 Annual National Conference (ANC) to help select the cover everyone will see in their mailbox— and online—this September! Each person who stopped by the SN booth in the ANC Exhibit Hall in San Antonio was asked to choose their favorite of three cover options. With each potential cover featuring absolutely adorable kids, conference-goers told us it was difficult to choose just one! Each cover earned a cute nickname over the course of ANC. “Sassy Girl 2.0” (a follow-up to the June/July 2015 crowd-pleasing cover) and “Mr. Personality” had loyal support, but “Science Guy” ended up taking the crown! A huge thank-you to all who voted, offered generous compliments on our redesign and discussed future opportunities with the editorial and sales teams. We can’t wait to see what gets selected next year! AND THE WINNER IS... B
