Eggstra! Eggstra! Did you know that May is National Egg Month? SN has been a fan of the “Egg Pop” concept developed by the American Egg Board since we first discovered it at a past Annual National Conference. Our kudos to the team at Bransford Elementary School in Grapevine-Colleyville (Texas) Independent School District for taking the concept a step further! Earth Day 2017 What a great way to show love for the creatures of our planet and school meals! We applaud the creative designers at Lindsey Elementary in the Houston County (Ga.) School District (left) and Grandview Elementary in Colorado’s Weld RE-4 School District (right) What a lovely way to pay it forward from the foodservice team at Birmingham (Mich.) Public Schools! We may have to “steal” this idea for the café at SNA Headquarters. KUDOS TO SNA OF ARIZONA for this empowering nametag. It’s certainly an idea that can be reproduced by other states, local chapters and even district school nutrition teams. Work with your district print shop to create these for all of your back-to-school activities, from inservice meetings to kindergarten orientations to parent nights! Instead of Mmmmm, Say Ommmmm When Provo City School District’s Centennial Middle School offered a special outdoor yoga class to students, a few members of the cafeteria team took advantage of an opportunity to enjoy an exclusive lesson before the kids arrived. What a wonderfully serene setting for them and yogi Jai Krishna Das. Namaste, ladies! TRUTH IN “ADVERTISING” Five members of SNA’s Public Policy and Legislation Committee—(clockwise) Chris Burkhardt (Ohio), Stephanie Dillard (Ala.), Siri Perlman (Calif.), Jill Kidd (Colo.) and Judy White (Mass.)—provide a compelling and vivid illustration of why the Association’s 2017 Position Paper asks Washington lawmakers for help with “program simplification.” (Never let it be said that service on an SNA committee is boring work!)
