CERAMICS The ceramics studios at 92Y are some of the best-equipped in NYC. A gas-reduc-tion kiln, three electric kilns and 25 electric wheels offer potters, artists and hobbyists unlimited opportunities to create unique works of art. We offer multi-level wheel and handbuild-ing classes for adults, using stoneware in the fall and spring, and porcelain in the summer (glaze-fired to cone 10). Teaching artists include ceramicists and sculptors who have exhibited nationally and internationally. In addition to our classes, we offer open studio time to enrolled students, independent study opportunities for experienced students and private instruc-tion that allows you to work one-on-one with an expert instructor as you explore special topics and techniques. Community events and activities include Corporate Team-Building Events — designed to boost morale and improve team dynamics through custom-designed ceramics activities — as well as inter-national innovations in collaboration with the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts, like the first #GlobalDayofClay (bringing artists around the world together to explore new innova-tions in ceramics) and Virtual Clay, a series of real-time online classes with artists, designers and art historians.
