» Military Family Appreciation Month November 2017 As you honor veterans on November 11, consider opportunities—personal and professional—to celebrate their families, too. From the children of active duty members who desperately miss a parent who has been deployed to the spouse who takes on an extra burden in family management to those who have suffered the loss of a loved one, military families also do their part in serving the country. Take time this month to recognize their service with a small act of kindness and gratitude: ● Provide cafeteria coupons for one free adult meal to military families in your area to be redeemed in November. ● Organize an appreciation event in the school cafeteria, inviting veterans, active duty military members and their families. ● Offer to babysit for a mother or father who’s been without a co-parent because of deployment. ● Purchase a gift card to a local restaurant for a couple to go on a much-deserved date night or for the at-home parent to skip cooking for the kids one night. ● Do small acts of service for an area military family, such as mowing their lawn, shoveling their driveway or rolling their trash cans to the curb. ● Donate to a veteran’s charity in the name of a military family you know.
