Gov. Rick Perry appointed <b>Mark Pittman</b>, of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Fort Worth, to a six-year term as a public member of the Texas Radiation Advisory Board. <b>David E. Colmenero</b>, a partner in Meadows, Collier, Reed, Cousins, Crouch & Ungerman, L.L.P., was named the 2011–12 chair of the Dallas CPA Society. McKool Smith donated $100,000 to both Global Health Corps and Vogel Alcove, two leading nonprofit organizations that provide access to health care and support social services for children and families in need in Dallas and in underdeveloped countries around the world. <b>Ricky A. Raven</b>, a partner in Thompson & Knight, L.L.P., was appointed to the board of directors of the Houston Zoo. <b>Marcos G. Ronquillo</b>, managing shareholder and chief operating officer in Godwin Ronquillo, P.C. in Dallas, was named president of the board of the Julian Samora Legacy Foundation. <b>George W. Connelly</b>, a shareholder in Chamberlain Hrdlicka, was elected chair of the Executive Committee of Houston’s Association for Community Broadcasting, a nonprofit that advocates on behalf of public radio and television in Houston. The Texas House of Representatives presented <b>John Pearce</b>, an attorney with the Fowler Law Firm, P.C. in Austin, with Resolution 699, which honored him for his civic contributions. <b>Maria Sanchez</b>, a senior attorney for Austin Energy with the City of Austin Law Department, was appointed president of Volunteer Legal Services (VLS) of Central Texas. <b>S. Shawn Stephens</b>, a partner in Baker Hostetler, L.L.P. in Houston, was named a Woman of Distinction by ABC Channel 13 (Houston) and Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. She was honored for her community leadership. <b>Alfred M. “Alfie” Meyerson</b>, a partner in Thompson & Knight, L.L.P., was appointed to a three-year term on the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston Development Board. <b>Billy R. Smith</b>, of Billy R. Smith, Attorney at Law and of counsel to Barlow/Jones Attorneys in Houston, was named Outstanding Adjunct Professor by the University of Houston — Clear Lake. <b>Elliot Clark</b>, a shareholder in Winstead, P.C., joined the Volunteer Legal Services (VLS) of Central Texas board of directors for a two-year term. <b>Beryl P. “Berry” Crowley</b>, principal in Beryl P. Crowley, Attorney & Counselor in Austin, was elected chair of the board of the Capital Texas Public Telecommunications Council, KLRU TV.
