Our 45th anniversary season begins with the return of austin Pendleton, who directed csc’s critically-acclaimed productions of chekhov’s thrEE sistErs and UNcLE VaNYa. this time around he tackles Chekhov ’s fi rst great dramatic work, ivanov, with a stellar cast that includes Ethan hawke . Winter ushers in csc’s fi rst venture into exploring a musical theatre classic, giving audiences a rare opportunity to re-experience stephen sondheim and James lapine ’s tony award-winning masterpiece Passion , with renowned director John doyle (sWEENEY tODD and cOMPaNY). the cast includes the much-celebrated Judy kuhn and Melissa Errico . in the spring i will take another look at one of the great works of Bertolt Brecht , directing a production of his play, thE CauCasian Chalk CiRClE, with a brand-new score and songs by tony award-winning composer duncan sheik (sPriNg aWaKENiNg). rounding out the season are csc’s popular special series which include: csc’s nationally-recognized young Company with a production of shakespeare’s MaCBEth , Books on stage which will focus on three recent adaptations of dostoevsky , and our Monday night open Rehearsal series which will take an inside look at RoMEo & JuliEt . so please join us for this truly special 45th anniversary season that continues our celebration of the world’s greatest plays brought to life by New York’s fi nest artists.
