SPECIAL BRANDEDCONTENT SECTION Giving Dealers the Durable, Reliable Products They Need to Succeed Mercury Marine is well known as one of the world’s largest manufacturers of marine engines. But outboards, sterndrives and in-boards are only the start of Mercury’s prod-uct offerings. Over the past 76 years, the Fond du Lac, Wisconsin-based company has evolved into a global provider of com-plete prop-to-helm solutions that are pow-erful, reliable, and easy to service. In fact, Mercury Marine products are designed, engineered and built to be so durable that the company’s warranty rate has declined to a level that is considered to be world-class. That is one of the reasons Mercury’s inter-national dealer network is more than 5,000 members strong and still growing. Mercury dealers know that they and their customers can rely on both the company’s products and its ongoing support. “They have the most bulletproof engines on the market, period,” says Brock Leggo, who owns Shelter Bay Marine in the Flori-da Keys along with his wife, Karen. Shel-ter Bay Marine specializes in repowering boats with outboard engines in the 150-to 350-hp range. “I believe in Mercury,” Leggo said. “They have a very durable product. They take care of the customer after the sale. Even after the warranty period, they are there to help.” line. That’s why the voice of the customer, as well as the boat builder and dealer, is so essential to the company’s research and de-sign process. “We have customers who want to do their own service work,” Leggo said. “When Mer-cury built their new engines, they had that in mind.” “We are interviewing customers about their wants and needs, meeting with the OEMs to look at their future designs, and talking with dealers about how to make ser-vice simpler and more intuitive,” said Ross Stewart, Mercury Marine senior director of sales. “Our goals are to make boating easi-er, while at the same time promoting dealer growth and profitability.” New for 2016 The new products that Mercury Marine launched recently embody these goals. Mercury’s new Active Trim system is a unique prop-to-helm solution designed to make boating easier and more enjoyable by automatically trimming outboard and stern-drive engines. With Active Trim, new boaters are able to properly trim boat engines imme-diately with no intimidating learning curve, while experienced boaters get the benefit of perfect trimming every time, without having to constantly adjust trim when boat speed changes or when going into turns. Unlike earlier automatic trim systems, Mercury’s Active Trim is GPS speed-and RPM-based, rather than only RPM-based, making it much more precise. Few technological innovations have given boaters more confidence when docking a boat or maneuvering at low speeds in the marina than Mercury’s Joystick Piloting System, which provides 360-degree fingertip control over the boat’s steering and propulsion. At the Miami International Boat show, Mercury introduced the next generation of the Joystick Piloting System for Verado out-boards, Axius gas and diesel sterndrives, and Zeus pod drives. The new Joystick Piloting System fea-tures many enhancements, including In-tegrated Precision Pilot Pad functionality, which makes Joystick operation even more intuitive. A new mode indicator prominently indicates Route, Heading and Skyhook modes and shows how to make heading changes in 1-and 10-degree increments. The new LED light ring changes color and intensity to indicate the status of the Joy-stick’s operating mode. Electronic Steering Helm (ESH) replaces the electric steering motor, eliminating a 20-Meet the newest member of Mercury’s Pro XS family of championship-winning outboard engines.
