Franco Dragone’s new US$25 million extravaganza The House of Dancing Water will make a splash heard round the world when it premieres mid-year at City of Dreams. City of Dreams gave local press a behind-the-scenes tour of the production-in-progress at the custom-built, Pei Partnersip-designed, 2,000-seat Theatre of Dreams. The House of Dancing Water will be the world’s largest perma- nent aquatic show, so it needs a lot of water – some 3.7 52 Destination macau APR / MAY 2010 million gallons, in fact, or the equivalent of five Olympic swimming pools. The water is stored underground until it’s pumped into the gigantic pool, 26 feet deep and 160 feet in diameter. The audience will experience dazzling audio and vis- ual effects during the show, but what they won’t see is just as impressive: namely, the team of over 30 master scuba divers who will be acting as underwater stage directors and safety wardens for swimming performers.
