This company has always considered educating Connecticut’s young people to be a key part of its mission. That's why the Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network has an entire education department devoted to promoting lifelong learning. In fact, over the past decade, CPBN has delivered over 10,000 hours of instruction to middle school, high school, college and adult students. We are especially proud of our education department’s partnership with Hartford Public Schools’ Journalism & Media Academy Magnet School (JMA). Through this partnership, the Learning Lab located at CPBN’s Hartford headquarters serves as the JMA’s satellite campus. Here, JMA seniors take classes in video production, editing and digital arts. Recently, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) Boston/New England Chapter announced that two student videos produced through this partnership have been nominated for a total of three 2015 High School Awards for Excellence. “ThinkTwice: Stop Child Abuse,” written, directed and edited by Woodlyn Joachim, was honored in two categories: High School Short Form, Non-fiction and High School Writing. “Design Your Future,” produced by Solimar Aponte and Julyanna Schreider-Passos, with Ms. Schreider-Passos also serving as photographer, animator and editor, was nominated in the Animation/Graphics/ Special Effects category. We are so proud of all of the students involved in the making of these films, and congratulate them for this honor. More information on our education department and our partnership with JMA can be found at CPBN.org/education. Speaking of awards, we are also thrilled to announce that CPTV received 11 Regional Emmy Award nominations from NATAS Boston/New England for the 2014 television season! Two of the nominations went to Infinity Hall Live, the CPTV Original music series that's debuting a new season this June. For more information on our nominations, see page 82. We clearly have a lot to celebrate this June, but none of it would be possible without the support of our members. Everything we achieve, we achieve together!
