A new season is upon us, and with it come some exciting developments at the Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network (CPBN), home of Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) and Connecticut Public Radio (WNPR).
You may have heard that CPTV has partnered with Connecticut-based aerospace manufacturer Pratt & Whitney to celebrate Pratt & Whitney's 90th anniversary next month. The anniversary celebration will be held on Friday, October 16 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Connecticut Convention Center, with Space-Craft Manufacturing, Inc., of New Haven becoming the first and Title Sponsor of the event. We hope many more sponsors will soon be added to the list. The event is being presented by CPTV as part of our ongoing Made in Connecticut initiative.
This initiative, made possible by Founding Sponsor KBE Building Corporation and the Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA), features special programming airing on both CPTV and WNPR that showcases local manufacturing and innovation. In fact, Pratt & Whitney and its revolutionary PurePower jet engine were featured in the CPTV Original documentary Made in Connecticut that premiered as part of the initiative last year!
We thank Pratt & Whitney for being part of the Made in Connecticut initiative, and congratulate them on this landmark anniversary. For more information on Pratt & Whitney and other companies featured by the Made in Connecticut initiative, visit MadeinCT.CPTV.org. And for information on how to be a part of the exciting anniversary celebration, see page 101.
We are also pleased to announce that the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences recently announced its nominations for the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards, and PBS programs received 30 nominations! We are proud to feature PBS programming on CPTV, a PBS affiliate station, and these nominations make us even more proud. A complete list of the nominated PBS programs can be found on page 103. Stay tuned to CPTV this fall as we air exciting new PBS offerings!
We would not be able to celebrate local industry, nor feature a diverse range of high-quality public television programming, without the support of you, our members. Thank you, and happy fall to you and yours!
