Getting to Know You: Andy “The Yeti” Patterson 1. What do you do at CPBN? Whenever people ask me that, I often say I’m the lymph node of CPBN—anytime something’s wrong, I have to check it. [As the] Broadcast Maintenance Technician, I solve problems; if something's not working right, I make it work or I make it better. 2. What brought you to public media? My dad. He was the chief engineer at WFSB for 30 or 40 years and was legendary in the television field. Growing up, it was like black box theory to me; I don’t get how this works, but I want to. Going to school taught me about the internal electronics behind it. He hooked me up with the connection here [at CPBN], and then nine months later died from cancer. There are so many things I want to share with him. I feel like I could have learned a lot more from him, but that’s life. 3. What do you love about CPBN? The product we make. Anytime I go to a place where English is a second language, like a Chinese food place, I see the kids watching CPTV and learning. I think, “I’m helping that kid have a better life!” It really gets me. Missing CPTV’s Television Listings? We appreciate the feedback we received regarding the decision to remove the television schedule from last month’s issue of Connecticut Magazine. To find out when your favorite show is airing, please visit CPTV’s website at cptv.org/schedule. However, if you wish to receive a paper copy of these listings for the month of April, please contact our Audience Care department at 860.275.7550 or by e-mailing audiencecare@cpbn.org. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we determine the best solution moving forward.
